SEPANG, June 19 : Three Under-13 (U-13) national players have been picked to represent leading French club, Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) in a junior football tournament in Rome, Italy from June 21 to 24.
The three players, Hazriq Haqqim Mohd Izham, Rohisham Haiqal Hashim and Mohammad Haykal Danish Mohd Haizon have been selected to join PSG U-13 squad in the Memorial Giuseppe Augello V International Championship.
Hazriq Haqqim, 13, who will taking up the goalkeeper position said he was excited to give his best to help the team emerge as the tournament champions.
“I am a bit nervous but it would not hinder me from giving my best there…I promise to give full commitment for PSG and earn a place in the first eleven,” he said when met by reporters before leaving for France at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) here today.
Sharing his view was Rohisham Haiqal who was equally excited to be given a chance to play for PSG and he thanked his parents for their moral support in furthering in his interest in the sport.
“The experience to play in the tournament is priceless and I shall play my best to clinch the championship as well as becoming their best player,” said the boy from Jengka, Pahang.
In this regard, Education Minister Dr Maszlee Malik who was also at KLIA described the opportunities for Malaysia’s young footballers to represent PSG showed the country has its talents spotted by foreign clubs.
“Apart from the government, this is actually the effort of every party involved in developing potential young talents and it shows to the world “Malaysia Boleh”, he said.
