Moto GP: Fabio, John secure podium

KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 11: Petronas Yamaha Sepang Racing Team (SRT) rider Fabio Quartararo secured his third podium of the season after finishing third at the Austrian Grand Prix (GP) today.

 

The 20-year-old French rookie collected 16 points after finishing 6.117 seconds behind race winner Andrea Dovizioso of Ducati, who won the 28-lap race at the Red Bull Ring in 39 minutes and 34.771 seconds.

 

Reigning world champion and championship leader Marc Marquez of Repsol Honda Team finished second after clocking 39:34.984s.

 

Fabio’s teammate Franco Morbidelli of Italy also managed to grab six championship points with a 10th place finish, 20.510s behind Dovi.

 

After a second-place finish at Catalunya (Spain) and third at Assen (Netherlands), Fabio is now placed seventh in the championships with 92 points, while Franco is in 12th place with 58 points.

 

Meanwhile, in the Moto3 class, Petronas Sprinta Racing’s John McPhee also secured his second podium with a third-place finish in a time of 37:51.240s, after having won the France GP early this season.

 

VNE Snipers team conquered the race with a top two finish as Italians Romano Fenati (37:50.135s) and Tony Arbolino (+1.907s) finished first and second.
