Melaka united to inject young blood into team

MELAKA, Dec 20:  Melaka United would include several young players in their squad for the Malaysian League next season, said chief coach Zainal Abidin Hassan.

He said at least five young players had joined the team’s training session which began last week.

“Most of them are homegrown players and we will pick two or three as a long-term development for the squad,” he told Bernama today.

Zainal Abidin, 57, said the squad’s preparation for the new season was proceeding smoothly although a couple of imported players had yet to join the training session.

Meanwhile, the Melaka United Soccer Association (MUSA) today announced that Jasmir Mehat and Lee Yong Cheng would be playing for the team next season.

The Melaka-born Jasmir, 25, last played for Melaka United in 2105 and 2016 while Yong Cheng, 24, who is from Kuala Lumpur, represented SAMB FC in the M3 League last season.
